The specialist scanner is expensive, fragile and not with you. ScanProbe treats the phone as the field instrument: LiDAR and photogrammetry captured on site, buffered locally so a dead signal does not cost the session, and reconstructed off-device where the compute is. The discipline is in the capture guidance — telling the operator what the reconstruction will need before they walk away from the subject.
